Nisbeth was the 2006 First Tee Scholar Award Recipient and when she joined the First Tee in 2000, she knew how to hit a golf ball but she did not anything about scoring or par or many other details about the game as they seemed boring to her at the time. She learned how to hit a golf ball in an open field before being invited to go to lessons at the First Tee facility. The structured environment that the First Tee provided her helped to make her a responsible and confident person not only on the golf course but also in the classroom and throughout her daily life.
She graduated from the University of South Florida in 2010 and worked as an intern in Rochester, NY before applying to and getting accepted to medical school. The First Tee started her on this road and anyone can find out how to participate at the First Tee nearest them. When she started, she did not even know who Tiger Woods was and now she not only knows a great deal about the game of golf but also she has gained wonderful life skills.
