- Master Trio
The USGA didn't mess around with its 1st and 2nd round groupings in the U.S. Open. Tiger Woods will play alongside Phil Mickelson and Masters champion Bubba Watson. 2008 is the only other time Tiger and Phil played together in a U.S. Open.
- McIlroy Improves
Coming off three straight missed cuts, Rory McIlroy got off to a solid start in the FedEx St. Jude Classic. He is two shots behind Jeff Maggert and John Merrick after a 2-under par 68.
- Tseng Struggles
Defending Wegmans LPGA Champion Yani Tseng felt some tightness in her left forearm and then went out and shot a 4-over 76 in the 1st round. Tseng is 7 shots behind leaders Ryann O'Toole, Beatriz Recari, and Giulia Sergas.
- Tied on Top
Dan Forsman and Bill Glasson are tied atop the leaderboard at 6-under-par in the Regions Tradition. Fred Funk is one back and Bernhard Langer is two back after 18 holes of the Champions Tour’s 2nd Major.
