Golf Channel Reporter Steve Burkowski is in El Paso, Texas for the Western Refining College All-America Golf Classic which is considered by many to be the best event on the collegiate schedule and is the last big event on the fall collegiate schedule. It is amazing to see how successful past competitors have been as the alumni of this event have won over 600 PGA TOUR events, 45 Major Championships, and almost $1.5 billion in earnings.

2012 U.S. Amateur Champion Steven Fox is in the field this week and he has had an amazing year as he will likely be invited to the first three Majors in 2013 if he remains an amateur. He also played Augusta National Golf Club for the first time last week. An amazing thing about Fox is that he has played with a torn labrum for the last two years. The injury does not impact his play on the golf course although it impacts his ability to practice before his rounds.

There were not many collegiate players to attempt to earn their PGA TOUR cards through Q-School this year as there were just five players who attempted to advance to the Final Stage and none of them were successful. Jordan Spieth was one of those five players and now that he has failed to make it to the Final Stage of Q-School, many are wondering if he will turn professional before completing four years at the University of Texas.
