Price Early Leader at Nwide Event

Nationwide TourGREER, S.C. -- Rick Price fired an 8-under-par 64 on Thursday to take the first-round lead of the BMW Charity Pro-Am.
Play rotates over three courses for the first three rounds with the professionals playing with amateur partners.
The courses are the par 71 Thornblade Club, the par 72 Bright's Creek Golf Club and the par 72 Carolina Country Club. Thornblade will host the final round.
David Mathis and Matt Hendrix posted 65s at The Carolina Country Club, while David Hearn and Peter Tomasulo shot 65s at Bright's Creek. The group is tied for second at minus-7.
Price played The Carolina Country Club on Thursday and parred the first hole. That was a feat he only accomplished on two other holes in the opening nine.
Price rolled in a 20-footer for birdie at the second. He parred the third, then rattled off four consecutive birdies from the fourth, including a tap-in at four and a 35-footer at the fifth.
He parred the long, par-3 eighth, then closed his front nine with a 35- foot birdie putt at the ninth. Price made the turn in 30, then continued his fine form with a three-foot birdie at No. 10.
'I'll sign up for a 7 under start through 10 holes every week,' joked Price. 'I made a long slider on the second hole and it was off to the races the rest of the day.'
Price, ranked 23rd on the Nationwide Tour money list, parred holes 11-13. He returned to his birdie ways with a 15-footer at the par-4 14th.
After two more pars, Price missed the fairway at the 17th. He gave himself a decent look at par from five feet, but missed the putt for his first bogey of the round.
At the par-5 closing hole, Price reached the green in two. His 30-footer for eagle nearly fell, but stayed above ground. Price tapped in for birdie and the first-round lead.
'I've always seemed to play well here,' acknowledged Price, who played with actor Greg Kinnear on Thursday. 'I'm not sure why I like it so much, but I just like the format.'
Rich Morris and Bill Lunde carded rounds of 6-under 66 at the Bright's Creek Golf Club and are tied for sixth with Michael Boyd, who shot his 66 at The Carolina Country Club.
Last week's winner, Colt Knost, struggled to a 5-over 76 at the Thornblade Club and is tied for 158th.
