Ryder Ticket Requests Break Record

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. --Tuesday's random drawing for tickets to the 35th Ryder Cup Matches comes from an American record of more than 102,000 ticket requests. That ensured a sellout for the Matches at Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., Sept.14-19, 2004.
The record number of requests from all 50 states and 40 countries easily topped the nearly 80,000 ticket requests that were received in 1999 when the matches were held in Boston.
The gallery will be limited to 38,000 per day, but unlike previous Ryder Cup Matches, daily tickets were also made available, which will allow more fans to experience the event.
The Ryder Cup Matches cover nearly 80 years, involving the greatest players in the world and producing some of the greatest moments in the game. Ryder Cup captain Hal Sutton will lead a U.S. team that bids to win back the Cup in 2004 from Europe, which scored a stunning 15 1/2 - 12 1/2 victory in 2002 in the 34th Ryder Cup Matches at The Belfry in England.
