Tiger touched by Masters patrons

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Warm, polite and respectful was more than enough for Tiger Woods.

In his news conference, Woods said he was touched by the reception Augusta National patrons gave him in his practice round Monday morning with Fred Couples and later Jim Furyk.

“I didn’t know what to expect with regards to the reception, and I tell you what, the galleries couldn’t be nicer,” Woods said. “It blew me away, to be honest with you.”

For long-time observers, the electric sparks that typically crackle when Woods is on the course weren’t there. It was definitely a more subdued Woods’ following, but Woods appreciated the fans who did shout out in welcoming him back.
