PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Tiger Woods’ last tee shot into the water spoiled his chance to log his first bogey-free round in his 13 years at The Players Championship, but he thought it was a good shot.
“The wind just got it,” Woods said.
That was a 5-wood he pulled into the drink.
'It wasn't a bad shot at all,' Woods said.
With a closing bogey, Woods still equaled his best start in this event, signing for a 2-under-par 70. His mood was distinctly upbeat. He said he’s pleased the direction his game’s going even as reports continue to pound away at the poor state of his swing.
