CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Tiger Woods turned at 2 over for the week on Friday and too close to the projected cut line for many in the capacity crowd.
The world No. 1 managed just three pars in his outward 36 and is a shot outside the projected cut. More importantly, however, is the fact he has not played Quail Hollow’s menacing closing stretch very well.
He was 3 over on Thursday on the layout’s “Green Mile” (Nos. 16-18). Last year he was 4 over for the span and in 2007, the year he won the event, he was also 4 over.
In fact, the last birdie Woods posted on the “Green Mile” came during the 2005 event at the 18th hole.
