PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – Tiger Woods arrived on the Pebble Beach practice tee about an hour before his 1:36 p.m. (PT) tee time and made a curious first choice.
Woods, who says he is a “short hitter” by today’s standards with only a hint of hyperbole, set up shop next to Alvaro Quiros, the long-hitting Spaniard. More than once during his 40-minute warm-up session Woods looked up to watch Quiros bomb drives over the fence about 290-yards away.
As if that wasn’t enough, right next to Quiros was phenom Ryo Ishikawa. It’s almost enough to make a guy feel old.
