PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – Lot of differences between the player who dominated Pebble Beach in 2000 and the version that is struggling to keep pace this week at the U.S. Open, but the most glaring distinction has been Woods’ play on the three par 5s.
With five par 5s still to play, Woods is 1 under on the three-shot holes for the week. For the week in 2000 he was 4 under, including a birdie-bogey-birdie-birdie performance at the 14th.
Or, maybe it’s the fact Woods is tied for 21st in putting compared to 2000, when he was second for the week in putts per green in regulation.
You make the call.
