Oh the Life of an LPGA Player

RSS

Oh, the life of an LPGA player - always fun and always very exciting. I am going to being doing blogs on the GOLF CHANNEL website for most of the year trying to keep people up to date and in the know with life on Tour.

But I feel like I should introduce myself to everyone. My name is Sarah Lynn Sargent. Most people still know me as Sarah Lynn Johnston. I was recently married and therefore throwing everyone that knows me off. I was on the Big Break 6 but not for long, so many people dont actually remember that I was on it.

Lucky for me I was able to get my own big break by getting my fully exempt LPGA card at Q-school in November. It was my second time to the final stage and as most golf enthusiasts know, Q-school is a very stressful week. This year the LPGA was only offering 15 exempt cards. I played really well that week and here I am traveling around the world, doing what I have dreamed of doing since I was about 5-years-old. Yes, I actually remember telling my gym teacher in first grade that I was going to play on the LPGA. He laughed and said, Well Sarah, we will see. I hope he sees now!

Most of my life I have been the underdog. I was a good high school player but not the best by a long shot. I walked on the golf team at Furman University and made my way to an All-American player by the time I was done. I turned professional right out of college and had a little success and that is when I finally realized that I could actually live my dream of playing golf.

This year so far has been incredible. Unfortunately, I have not done as well as I would have like but that is the great thing about this game, you never know when you are going to have it and when you are not. It makes for some excitement when you are trying to make money.

Lucky for me I have a husband that likes to travel - he is traveling around with me and caddying for another player. Her name is Meaghan Francella. You may have heard of her because, thats right, she just beat Annika last week in Mexico. If you saw any of the coverage, that was my wonderful hubby, Herbie, lining her putter up. I went out to watch because I missed the cut and I was thinking to myself, Hey, since I didnt win any money this week, at least I know Herbie will.

This year should bring some exciting stories. We will be traveling to many different places and meeting millions of people. I will be sure to keep everyone up with life on Tour as a rookie and with the hundreds of stupid things I am sure to do!
