CORNING, N.Y. -- Annika Sorenstam completed a round of 68 just before the second round of the LPGA Corning Classic was suspended due to darkness on Friday. Sorenstam was joined atop the leaderboard by Sherri Turner at 7-under-par 137.

Moira Dunn shot a 68 to finish one shot back at 6-under-par 138. Sung Ah Yim stands at minus-6 through 16 holes while Karine Incher is 6 under through 14. They will be among a group of players who will return to Corning Country Club Saturday morning to complete the second round.

Annika Sorenstam reacts after making a birdie at the ninth during her second round at the Corning Classic in New York.
Storms brought dangerous conditions to the area in the afternoon, delaying play for almost four hours. Sorenstam had a couple of birdies on her round before the bad weather arrived and she waited patiently to return to the course before picking up a birdie at the par-4 ninth.

The Swede played her second shot inside 6 feet for a birdie at the par-4 10th and converted a 5-foot putt for a birdie at the 11th. Sorenstam then birdied the par-5 12th to open a two-shot lead at 9 under.

Sorenstam found trouble with a bogey at the 14th, however, and dropped another shot with a bogey at the following hole. She managed to par her way in to finish alongside Turner at minus-7.

Turner played the back side first and tallied a pair of birdies over her first nine holes. She stumbled to back-to-back bogeys from the first but the 48- year-old responded with a birdie at the par-5 fifth.

Turner parred her four remaining holes to post a round of 71.

'It was a little bit of a different round today,' said Turner, who shared the first-round lead with Sophie Gustafson. 'It was interesting because there was no wind, but I wasn't quite hitting the ball as crisp today, especially in the middle of the round.'

Gustafson birdied the 10th and reached 8 under with a birdie at the 13th. She hit a bad drive on her way to a bogey at the 18th and suffered a triple-bogey at the first to fall back to 4 under.

She countered with a birdie at the second but gave that shot back with a bogey at the fourth. Gustafson then birdied the fourth and parred the sixth to stand at 5 under par through 15 holes. Jimin Kang is in the clubhouse at 5-under-par 139 after a round of 70.

Joo Mi Kim and Meena Lee are knotted at 4-under-par 140. Natalie Gulbis was one shot further back at 3-under-par 141 along with Kris Tamulis.

The second round will resume Saturday at 7:15 a.m. (ET).
