The qualification process mirrors that of the men's HSBC Champions event.
Players were invited to play if they were: a winner on the LPGA Tour; leading money winners from the Japan Ladies Professional Golf Association, Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association Tour, Ladies European Tour, Australian Ladies Professional Golf, Duramed FUTURES Tour, Ladies Asian Golf Tour; and the top player from the continent of Africa.
With those qualifiers, the field will consist of the top 15 players in the world rankings and 18 of the top 20.
Annika Sorenstam is off to a hot start with a win and a fourth-place finish. She will be joined in the field by Karrie Webb and Lorena Ochoa, who are both making their season debuts this week.

After taking a week off, the LPGA Tour returns to action March 14-16 with the MasterCard Classic in Mexico, where Meaghan Francella won last year.
