Arizona Wins Womens State Team Event

USGA MenTHE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Arizona won the Women's State Team Championship on Thursday behind Thuhashini Selvaratnam's 1-under 71 in the third and final round.
 
Kayla Mortellaro had a 2-over 74 and Judy Miller added a 15-over 87 for Arizona, which won the USGA event for the first time. The trio came in at 5-over 437 overall, beating second-place Tennessee by eight shots.
 
Arizona held the lead after the last two rounds.
 
'It's awesome,' said Mortellaro, who had the team's best score (73) in the first round on Tuesday. 'This is why you come here. To win is such an honor.'
 
Shelley Anderson paced the team from Tennessee with a 1-over 73 Thursday at The Club at Carlton Woods. Dawn Woodard (74) and Holly Cantwell (76) also helped Tennessee to a 13-over 445 total.
 
Florida, behind Diane Lang's final-round 74, was alone in third place at 16- over 448. Alabama and California shared fourth place at 451.
 
Defending champion Georgia came in at 20th place, 36 shots off the winning score at 41-over 473.
