'I would loved to have been there today. I had an allergic reactions either from a muffin or some sausage,' said Bean, who was searching for his first career victory on the Champions Tour. 'That was all I ate. I was looking forward to playing today. It's disappointing not to be able to play.'
Bean, who was slated to tee off in the final group along with overnight co-leader Bob Gilder and Tom Purtzer, was taken to Spectrum Health Downtown Center for observation when he felt ill after hitting balls on the range.
'I didn't want to withdraw but I had no choice,' Bean, an 11-time winner on the PGA Tour, said after returning to Egypt Valley Golf Club. 'I hit about 20 balls before this happened and was striking it pure.'
