Bemowski defeated Greg Reynolds, 2 and 1, in the quarterfinals and then upended Alan Foster, 3 and 2, in the semifinals. Bemowski's opponent in Thursday's final will be Mike Rice, who first beat Gayle Sanchez, 3 and 1, and then downed Jack Vardaman, 8 and 6 in the semifinals.
Bemowski is attempting to become the first player in 25 years to win this event in back-to-back years since Bill Campbell accomplished the feat in 1979-80.
The 59-year-old Bemowski, from Mukwonago, Wisconsin, was able to scrape by Reynolds, the 2002 champion. Bemowski moved to 19-3 all-time in match play at the event.
The 65-year-old Rice surged to a 5-up lead through nine holes in his semifinal match, showing little effects of a shoulder injury he suffered on the 17th hole of his quarterfinal match.
Foster, the 2005 British Senior Amateur champion, had beaten Robert Mielcarz, 1-up, while Vardaman got by Randy Reifers, 3 and 2, to reach the semifinals. Vardaman was a quarterfinalist in 2004.
