Buckle Cruises to First Nationwide Win

Nationwide TourVIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- Australian Andrew Buckle, a Nationwide Tour rookie, posted a 3-under 69 on Sunday to cruise to his first win at the Virginia Beach Open.
He finished at 20-under-par 268, which obliterated the tournament mark. James Driscoll established the old record of 273 in 2004.
Justin Bolli came in second place after a final-round, even-par 72. He finished at 15-under-par 273. Michael Long carded a 3-under 69 and took third place at minus-14.
Gabriel Hjertstedt (72) and Brandon de Jonge (70) tied for fourth place at minus-13. Kim Felton (69) and John Merrick (73) tied for sixth at 12-under-par 276.
Buckle began the final round with a two-shot edge and no one made a move at the Australian rookie. He birdied the par-3 third, then eagled the par-5 fifth.
Buckle played solid golf after the eagle, parring every hole until a birdie at the par-five 16th. He held a five-shot lead on the 18th tee, then bogeyed the hole. Bolli did the same so the five-stroke margin of victory stood for Buckle.
He pocketed $81,000 for the victory.
Dan Olsen, Darron Stiles and Scott Parel all notched 2-under-par 70s on Sunday and tied for eighth place at 11-under-par 277.
