DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Amateur Paula Creamer posted a 1-under 71 on Saturday and is ahead after 72 holes of the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament. She stands at 9-under-par 279, three clear of former tour player Beth Bader and overnight leader Young Jo.

Saturday's fourth round featured light rain and colder temperatures, but the marathon is almost over. There was a 72-hole cut on Saturday and after Sunday's final round, the top 30 receive exempt status on the LPGA Tour in 2005 and the next 35 get conditional status.

Bader shot a 70 on Saturday while Jo managed a 3-over 75. That duo is two ahead of Emily Bastel (69) and Celeste Troche (70), who are knotted at 4-under-par 284.

Creamer sank a 10-footer for birdie at the first, then dropped shots on back-to-back holes at two and three.

'In the beginning I started off kind of rough,' said Creamer. 'I think I was fussing around too much with my clothing. After that, I started hitting the ball a little better.'

She responded with a birdie at the ninth to make the turn at even par. She tallied birdies at 12 and 14, but bogeyed the 15th to fall back to 9 under par.

Creamer's amateur season has been solid and she looks ready for the tour. She lost the ShopRite LPGA Classic this year when Cristie Kerr birdied the 18th and Creamer shared lowest amateur honors at the U.S. Women's Open when she and Michelle Wie tied for 13th.

'Tomorrow we are going to go out and try to go as low as we can and try to win the tournament,' said Creamer.

Hana Kim (69), Il Mi Chung (70), Dina Ammaccapane (70) and Lee Ann Walker- Cooper (74) share sixth place at minus-3.

Bernadette Luse (71), Nicole Jeray (72), Katie Allison (72), Amy Hung (72), Jordan Cherebetiu (72), Cathy Johnston-Forbes (75), Maria Hjorth (75) and Beth Bauer (77) are knotted in 10th place at 2-under-par 286.

The 72-hole cut fell at 6-over-par 294 with 71 players qualified for Sunday, including first-round co-leader Naree Song (291), Charlotta Sorenstam (292) and Brittany Lincicome (292).

Among those will not have status on tour next season are: former Solheim Cupper Becky Iverson (295) and former U.S. Women's Amateur champion Virada Nirapathpongporn (297).
