European Tour Heads to China

European TourHAINAN ISLAND, China - The European Tour plays its 16th straight event outside Europe this week. That is important because next week the tour returns to Madeira for its first event of the season in Europe.
Last year saw a recording-setting win for Johan Edfors. He closed with a 68 to shoot 25-under 263 and set a new tournament scoring mark. Paul Casey and Paul McGinley set the previous record of 266 in 2005.
Edfors is skipping the event this year. The field will be led by tour stalwarts Nick Dougherty, Lee Westwood and McGinley, who is still smarting from his playoff loss two years ago to Casey.
Players will see a different finishing stretch this week as well. The par-3 15th has been extended thanks to extensive tree clearing. The 16th has been reshaped putting a premium on players' tee shots.
The GOLF CHANNEL has coverage of all four rounds starting at 9:30 a.m. (ET) all four days.
As previously mentioned, the tour heads to Madeira Island next week marking its return to Europe.
Jean Van de Velde won there last year. However, many of the top players will be in the United States for the World Golf Championships - CA Championship.
