Florioli In Control After 3rd Round

INISHOWEN, Ireland - Italy's Massimo Florioli polished off a 1-under 71 Sunday to take the third round lead of the North West of Ireland Open. Florioli stands at 4-under-par 212 and owns a one shot lead over Sweden's Adam Mednick.
The third round was completed Sunday morning after play was suspended for darkness on Saturday. There were over four hours of wind delays Saturday prompting 20 groups to return to the Glashedy Links of Ballyliffin Golf Club Sunday morning.
Costantino Rocca, the inaugural North West of Ireland Open champion at Galway Bay in 1999, finished off a round of 2-over-par 74 and is alone in third place at 2-under-par 214.
Florioli and Rocca shared the lead when play was halted Saturday and Florioli did not waste time moving clear of Rocca. Both players birdied their first hole back, the 12th, but Florioli broke away at the par-5 13th.
Florioli knocked a 3-wood to seven feet at the 13th to set up eagle and take sole possession of first place. Both players collected a birdie and a bogey the rest of the way to give Florioli the lead.
Mednick was the only player to post a third round score under 70 with his 3-under-par 69.
Philip Walton of Ireland and Frenchman Jean-Francois Lucquin share fourth place at even-par 216. Anders Forsbrand of Sweden, Italy's Michele Reale and Andrew Coltart of Scotland share sixth place at plus 3.
