Haas Wins Rain-Shortened Champions Event

2005 Administaff Small Business ClassicSPRING, Texas -- With poor weather moving in Sunday, tee times were moved up in the hope that the final round of the Administaff Small Business Classic could be completed before the bad weather arrived.
Jay Haas
Jay Haas won his fourth Champions Tour title of the year.
There was no such luck for tournament officials as heavy rain moved in and washed out the final round at Augusta Pines Golf Club.
Jay Haas, who led by five strokes after the second round, was declared the winner. Haas shared the first-round lead with Dick Mast and Tom Purtzer, then fired a 9-under 63 Saturday to move to 16-under-par 128 and pull away from the field.
Purtzer shared second place with Bruce Lietzke at 11-under-par 133.
Haas played five holes Sunday before the weather came. He was minus-1 with a bogey and two birdies, but still led by five over Lietzke when play was halted.
Mast took fourth place at minus-10, while Jim Thorpe was one stroke further back at 9-under-par 135.
Des Smyth finished at minus-8 in sixth one stroke ahead of three players - Larry Nelson, Ron Streck and D.A. Weibring.
