Harrington Back into Top-10 Tiger Still Solid No 1


Padraig Harrington drained a long eagle putt on the 18th hole Sunday at Westchester Country Club to win the Barclays Classic and in the process advance to No. 8 in the latest edition of the Official World Golf Ranking.
Tiger Woods remains firmly entrenched atop the rankings as he returns to action this week at the Cialis Western Open. Vijay Singh was next at No. 2, followed by Ernie Els, Phil Mickelson, Retief Goosen, Sergio Garcia and Adam Scott.
Harrington was next at No. 8 up from 11th, while Chris DiMarco held onto the ninth spot. David Toms was down two positions to No. 10.
Kenny Perry dropped one to No. 11. Davis Love III stayed at No. 12 followed by Luke Donald. Jim Furyk, who finished second to Harrington at the Barclays Classic, improved four spaces to No. 14.
Chad Campbell stayed at No. 15, while Stewart Cink was down to No. 16. Darren Clarke fell to No. 17 and Stuart Appleby dropped to No. 18. Justin Leonard and Miguel Angel Jimenez rounded out the top 20.
Jean-Francois Remesy successfully defended his title at the Open de France and vaulted from No. 165 to No. 97 in this week's rankings.
