Hartford Survives Another Year

HARTFORD, Conn. -- The Greater Hartford Open has secured a spot on the PGA Tour for 2003, tournament officials announced Wednesday.
Organizers have arranged $3.75 million of the required $4 million to fund the tournament, which is scheduled for July 21-27. The event lost its sponsor last season.
Officials are still searching for a title sponsor for three or four years.
'We are very optimistic we will establish a title sponsor relationship for 2004 or perhaps even 2003,' said Roger Gelfenbien, chairman of the GHO Title Sponsor Advisory Committee. 'We are thrilled with the response of area companies and the local community to our call for assistance.
