Hickory Classic Switches Dates

Champions TourPONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- The 2003 Greater Hickory Classic on the Champions Tour has been moved from its originally scheduled date of July 4-6 to September 26-28. This is a first year event on the Champions Tour.
The tournament was able to be moved when the Long Island Classic determined it had conflicts with the original schedule. The Long Island Classic had been scheduled for the September date, but the host venue - Meadow Brook Club - has conflicts with that date.
'These new dates will further enhance preparations for the Greater Hickory Classic at Rock Barn,' said PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem. 'The players will enjoy this new tournament and Rock Barn very much. We anticipate the event will make a strong debut in 2003.'
The Greater Hickory Classic will now follow the SAS Championship on the tour schedule. The new date for the Long Island Classic has yet to be determined.
'We are working very closely with Long Island Classic tournament officials to resolve a unique set of circumstances,' said Finchem. 'We are confident we will have good news on their site and date to share in the near future.'
