Immelman Moves into Top-20 in Rankings


Trevor Immelman held off Tiger Woods and others Sunday to win the Western Open, helping him jump 14 places to No. 15 in the latest Official World Golf Ranking.
Woods held on to the top spot and extended his lead over No. 2 Phil Mickelson. The next four players remained the same from a week ago -- Vijay Singh in third followed by Retief Goosen, Jim Furyk and Adam Scott.
U.S. Open champion Geoff Ogilvy moved up another spot to seventh this week, while two-time U.S. Open winner Ernie Els dipped to eighth.
The following six players held steady from a week ago: Sergio Garcia stayed ninth with David Howell, David Toms, Luke Donald, Colin Montgomerie and Jose Maria Olazabal trailing the young Spaniard.
Immelman was in at 15, while Henrik Stenson was down one to 16th. Tim Clark, who will defend in his title at the Scottish Open this week, remained 17th.
Irishman Padraig Harrington jumped two spots to 18th. American Chad Campbell slipped two to 19th, while Stuart Appleby was down a pair of spots to No. 20.
Darren Clarke dropped out of the top-20 as he tumbled two places to 21st this week.
Stephen Dodd's win at the European Open allowed him to jump 68 spots to 60th.
