Inaugural Event Set for Pebble Beach


Champions TourThis tournament will serve as the national championship for The First Tee, an initiative of the World Golf Foundation that provides young people of all backgrounds an opportunity to develop life-enhancing values through golf and character education.
The chairman of the event is Clint Eastwood, and former president George Bush and Arnold Palmer are honorary co-chairs.
This tournament is like no other, as Champions Tour players are teamed with select junior players from around the country and amateur contestants. Friday and Saturday will have play on both courses with the ten leading amateur teams and 22 juniors joining the 78 professionals for the final round at Pebble Beach.
After a two-week stay on the west coast, the Champions Tour moves east to Ohio next week for the Kroger Classic, as Gil Morgan defends his title.
