Dr. Richard Steadman, who performed the surgery at the Steadman Hawkins Clinic, cut out some of the meniscus (cartilage) from the lateral and interior of Jacobsen's knee. The doctor also removed a cyst that was attached under the kneecap.
'Dr. Steadman is very pleased with how the surgery went,' said Jacobsen through a statement released from his office. 'I will start physical therapy (Tuesday), and as soon as I am off the crutches I will be able to practice my chipping and putting. I am looking forward to getting back out on the Tour and competing.'
Jacobsen hopes to return to tournament play at the PGA Tour's Players Championship, March 21-27. He had planned to play in this week's Champions Tour ACE Group Classic in Naples.
Jacobsen underwent hip surgery in April and missed time.
