Kaye Rockets Up In Rankings

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- Jonathan Kaye eagled the first playoff hole Sunday to earn his first PGA Tour victory at the Buick Classic. He jumped up 51 places to No. 52 in the latest World Golf Rankings.
 
Tiger Woods, who tied for 13th at Westchester, remained in first place for the 201st consecutive week. Ernie Els, who tied for 11th at the Buick Classic, held on to second followed by Masters champion Mike Weir, Davis Love III and Vijay Singh.
 
Jonathan KayeJim Furyk failed in his bid to become the third player in history to win the U.S. Open then take the title at the Buick Classic the following week. He maintained his sixth-place ranking, followed by David Toms, who stayed put at No. 7.
 
Padraig Harrington and Phil Mickelson switched places from last week. The Irishman moved up to eighth while the left-handed American dropped to ninth after starting the 2003 campaign at No. 2. Kenny Perry rounded out the top-10.
 
Retief Goosen held on to No. 11, while Nick Price, Justin Leonard and Chris DiMarco stayed at Nos. 12-14. Sergio Garcia shared fourth at Westchester, his highest finish of the year, and stayed at 15.
 
Robert Allenby and Bob Estes kept the 16th and 17th spots, respectively. Colin Montgomerie took fourth at The Diageo Championship in Scotland and moved into the top-20 at No. 18. Scott Verplank moved up one to 19th while Jerry Kelly dipped one to 20th.
 
John Rollins, who lost the playoff to Kaye, moved up 30 spots to No. 49.
