Kite Lyle Added to UBS Cup Rosters


2004 UBS CupKIAWAH ISLAND, SC -- Former major winners Tom Kite and Sandy Lyle were among six players chosen on Tuesday to complete the rosters for the 2004 UBS Cup.
Kite is joined by Fred Funk as late additions to the American squad. Captained by Arnold Palmer, the U.S. team features Ryder Cup captain Hal Sutton, Fred Couples, Jay Haas, Craig Stadler, Mark O'Meara, Raymond Floyd, Hale Irwin, Scott Hoch and Curtis Strange.
Lyle, who won the 1985 British Open and the 1998 Masters, along with Rodger Davis, Peter Senior and John Chillas, join the Rest of the World squad, with Gary Player as the captain. The remainder of the Rest of the World side includes European Ryder Cup Captain Bernhard Langer, Colin Montgomerie, Barry Lane, Sam Torrance, Ian Woosnam, Mark McNulty and Carl Mason.
The UBS Cup is an annual match play event that pits players from the United States against competitors from the Rest of the World. The Americans retained the UBS Cup last year on the Seaside Course at Sea Island.
The 2004 UBS Cup is scheduled for November 19-21 on the Cassique Course at Kiawah Island. The Golf Channel will provide worldwide coverage of the event.
