Leonard Vaults to 16th in World Rankings


Justin Leonard's win at the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic on Sunday helped him leap 16 spaces in the latest Official World Golf Ranking.
The top-seven in the rankings remained the same from one week ago with Vijay Singh No. 1 followed by Tiger Woods, Ernie Els, Retief Goosen, Phil Mickelson, Sergio Garcia and Padraig Harrington.
David Love III inched up one space to No. 8, while Canadian Mike Weir slipped to ninth.
Stewart Cink, Stuart Appleby and Adam Scott stayed put in the 10th through 12th spots. Miguel Angel Jimenez and Darren Clarke exchanged spots from last week with the Spaniard moving to 13 and the Ulsterman dropping to 14th. Chris DiMarco held on to the 15th slot.
Leonard jumped 16 spaces to No. 16 this week with Chad Campbell dropping one to 17. David Toms stayed put at 18, while Luke Donald slid two spots to 19.
British Open champion Todd Hamilton remained 20th, while Kenny Perry fell two notches to 21st.
Nick Dougherty won the Caltex Masters for his first career title on the European Tour and in the process moved from No. 360 to No. 163 in the world.
