Longmeadow to Host 2005 Junior Amateur

Longmeadow Country Club in Longmeadow, Mass., has been selected to host the 2005 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship, the United States Golf Assn. has announced.
Longmeadow hosted the 1995 U.S. Girls' Junior Championship and will become the 10th course to be the venue for both.
'The experience we had with the Girls' Junior was nothing short of phenomenal,' said Russ Whiteford, a past president of Longmeadow and co-chair of the 2005 Junior Amateur. 'With the experience that we enjoyed with the Girls' Junior, our membership can't wait to have the Junior Amateur.'
Longmeadow, designed by Donald Ross in 1922, underwent some changes in 1999. The work, which was done by architect Ron Pritchard, involved bunker restoration, tree elimination and extensive makeover of the greens.
Brian Harman won this year's Junior Amateur at Columbia Country Club in Chevy Chase, Md. The 2004 edition will be played at The Olympic Club in San Francisco, Calif., from July 19-24.
