Love Withdraws From Colonial

Davis Love III, who finished in a second- place tie at last year's Colonial tournament, has withdrawn from this year's event due to a neck injury.
Love and Stewart Cink finished the 2000 tournament with a total of 10-under- par 270, two strokes behind Phil Mickelson. Love, who won the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am this February and finished in a tie for second the following week at the Buick Invitational, has a neck disc problem that is causing numbness in his left arm and fingers. The condition first appeared during the 36-hole finish at the BellSouth Classic in Atlanta on April 1.
The 37-year-old Love missed the cut at the Masters, before finishing in a tie for seventh at the WorldCom Classic on April 15 for his fifth top-10 finish in 10 tournaments this year. He's been sidelined since that event, withdrawing from three straight tournaments after taking a two-week break. Love, who has earnings of better than $1.5 million this year, also withdrew from the Compaq Classic in New Orleans and the Byron Nelson Classic in Irving, Texas, last week.
