Medalist Harigae on a Roll at Womens Publinx


USGAPUEBLO, Col. ' Mina Harigae cruised to two big wins Friday to move into the quarterfinals at the United States Women's Amateur Public Links.
Harigae rolled over Mari Chun, 7 and 6, in round two. In the afternoon, Harigae cruised by Morgan Grantham, 5 and 4. Harigae, who shared medalist honors with Hanna Jun, will now face Kimberly Kim in the quarterfinals.
Kim won her two matches Friday by an identical 4 and 3 score.
Ya-Ni Tseng claimed her second round match with Lauren Hunt, 3 and 2. Tseng then bested Jenna Pearson, 4 and 3, to gain the quarterfinals. Tseng will square off against Tiffany Chudy in the quarters.
Chudy was a 1-up winner over both Allison Goodman (second round) and Ashley Sholer (third) at Walking Stick Golf Course.
Sara Brown will battle Angela Oh in the next quarterfinal match. Brown had a tough day as she held off Jun, the co-medalist with Harigae, 1-up in 19 holes. Brown then fought off Kyu Ri Ban, 2 and 1, in round three.
Oh easily defeated Kelley Louth, 5 and 4, in the second round. Oh then needed 20 holes to down Selanee Henderson, 1-up. That was the longest match so far this week.
The final quarterfinal match will pit Tiffany Joh against Maria Jose Uribe. Joh cruised into the quarterfinal round with matching 5 and 4 wins over Amanda Costner and Juli Wightman.
Uribe, on the other hand, had a pair of tight matches. In round two, she held off Nara Shin, 2 and 1. Uribe came back with a hard fought 3 and 1 win over Stephanie Kono.
