Storms forced play to be suspended Friday around 5:30 p.m. Players will return to the Greystone Golf & Country Club Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. to complete the first round before second-round action gets underway at 11:30 a.m.
The start of the first round was delayed two hours and no golfer completed their round before the storms returned.
Nelson, the 1999 champion of this event, opened with three consecutive birdies and finished with seven before the horn stopped play after his 14th hole.
'I always felt like if I'm playing well, I wanted to play more holes,' said Nelson. 'If not, it's not that a big deal. We've all done this throughout our career.'
Quigley broke the Senior Tour record with his 178th consecutive start, breaking the mark he shared with Mike McCullough. He collected eight birdies and a bogey on Friday as he played 13 holes in the first round.
'We all know when it's time to play,' said Quigley. 'We've got to be ready. I was hitting it good and wanted to get back out there.'
Bruce Fleisher is in third place at five-under par through 12 holes. Lee Trevino is four-under through 13 holes and is tied for fourth with Bob Charles who completed 10 holes and Tom Jenkins who got through six holes.
