New Event in Austin for Senior Tour

AUSTIN, TX -- The PGA Tour and Kinko's Inc. announced a partnership on Monday that brings professional golf back to the Austin area with the The Kinko's Classic of Austin.
The new Senior Tour event is scheduled to debut in 2003 during the week of May 5-11, 2003 at The Hills Country Club.
'We are pleased to forge this new relationship with Kinko's and are excited to bring the Senior PGA Tour back to Austin, which has a great golfing tradition and played such a significant role in the Senior Tour's development,' said PGA Tour Commissioner Tim Finchem. 'The Hills is an ideal facility to welcome the Senior Tour back to Austin. It's also exciting to bring the Senior PGA Tour to the hometown of five of our Senior Tour members.'
Ben Crenshaw and Tom Kite, both on hand at the announcement, Steven Veriato, Terry Dill and Tom Jenkins all reside in the Austin area.
The Senior Tour returns to Austin for the first time since the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf left town in 1994. The tournament, considered the catalyst for the creation of the Senior Tour, originated in Austin in 1978.
