Ochoa Continues to Close Rankings Gap on Annika


After clinching Player of the Year with a win at the Tournament of Champions on Sunday, Lorena Ochoa closed the gap on Annika Sorenstam's lead in the Rolex World Rankings.
Ochoa, a six-time winner this year, now trails Sorenstam by 4.73 average points in the weekly rankings, trimming the world No. 1's advantage by .86 points.
Karrie Webb, Cristie Kerr, Juli Inkster and Ai Miyazato held onto positions 3-6 behind Sorenstam and Ochoa.
Paula Creamer displaced Jeong Jang at No. 7, while Shiho Ohyama remained ninth and Michelle Wie moved up one spot to 10th, dropping Pat Hurst to 11th.
Hurst was followed by Se-Ri Pak, Hee-Won Han, Yuri Fudoh, Mi Hyun Kim and Seon-Hwa Lee, who remained in spots 12-16.
Natalie Gulbis slipped into the 17th position, knocking Akiko Fukushima to 18th. Jee Young Lee and Morgan Pressel remained 19th and 20th.
