Ochoa Slowly Closing Gap in Womens Rankings


Lorena Ochoa claimed her third win of the season Sunday and inched slightly closer to Annika Sorenstam in the latest Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings.
Sorenstam's lead dropped minimally from 7.35 to 7.15 average points over Ochoa this week. They were followed by Karrie Webb again.
Juli Inkster and Cristie Kerr exchanged places in the new rankings with Inkster up to fourth, while her Solheim Cup teammate slipped to fifth. Paula Creamer remained sixth and she was followed by Michelle Wie and Jeong Jang.
Pat Hurst and Yuri Fudoh also exchanged spots with Hurst inching up to ninth. Ai Miyazato, Se Ri Pak and Mi Hyun Kim held steady from last week in places 11 through 13.
Shiho Ohyama moved up one to 14, while Hee-Won Han dipped to 15th. Han was followed by Seon-Hwa Lee and Natalie Gulbis.
Jee Young Lee finished second to Ochoa at the Wendy's Championship for Children and moved up six places to 18th. Sophie Gustafson was down a spot to 19 and Sherri Steinhauer rounded out the top 20.
