PGA Championship to Move from Sahalee in 2010

PGA of AmericaPALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. -- The PGA of America announced on Thursday that the 2010 PGA Championship will be moved from Sahalee Country Club in Redmond, Wash.
The decision to move the tournament came about because the Winter Olympic Games will be taking place Vancouver the same year.
'While we are disappointed that the 2010 PGA Championship will not be played at Sahalee Country Club we can not overlook the obstacles we would face with the Winter Olympic Games being conducted on our doorstep in the same year,' said Jack Calabrese, the Sahalee Country Club President . 'We look forward to working with The PGA of America to bring a major championship to the Pacific Northwest.'
Sahalee hosted the 1998 PGA Championship, which was the first major victory for World No. 1, Vijay Singh. Singh will be the defending champion this year when the season's final major championship makes its first trip to Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, N.J.
