PGAs Awtrey Set to Retire in 2006

PGA of AmericaPALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. -- PGA Chief Executive Officer Jim L. Awtrey has announced that he will retire in 2006.
Awtrey, who was the first PGA Member to be hired as chief executive of the Association, has held a leadership position since 1987.
'Early in 2006 will mark my 20th year with The PGA, and, while this was not an easy decision, it is the proper decision and the proper time,' Awtrey said Saturday morning during the Association's Annual Meeting.
Roger Warren, the incoming PGA President, said that Awtrey will play a part in the transition.
'Jim Awtrey has directed the Association's rise in stature and resources and will leave an indelible mark on the PGA of America,' Warren said. 'We are pleased to have him involved over the next two years as we implement this transition in our staff leadership.'
