Play Suspended Pair Share Lead

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- Jimmy Green and Ted Purdy each posted rounds of 8-under-par 64 on Thursday to share the lead during the suspended first round of the Chattanooga Classic.
Thunderstorms rolled into Black Creek Club pushing the start of the round back 90 minutes. Another wave of storms caused another 90 minute delay, as 42 players failed to complete their first rounds due to darkness. Those golfers return at 8:10 AM (ET) Friday morning to polish off the first round.
Jake Reeves, an alumnus of the University of Tennessee and a Monday qualifier, fired a 7-under 65 on Thursday to share third place with Tommy Biershenk. Marvin King and Chad Wilfong are 7-under par with five holes to play on their round.
Green started on the back nine Thursday and tallied three birdies in his opening nine holes. On the second nine, Green birdied four in row starting with the third and closed out his round with a birdie at No. 9.
'This is one golf course you have to think on,' said Green. 'It's not hit it as hard as you can, find it, hit it hard again.'
Purdy, who won this year's Arkansas Classic, also began on the back nine and collected four birdies on his front nine. He mixed two birdies and an eagle at the par-5 sixth to post his 64.
Reeves, the nephew of Atlanta Falcons head coach Dan Reeves, has earned two wins and a playoff loss on the mini-tour circuit and leads that money list with $78,000.
'Ever since I won in South Carolina in April I've been playing good and my confidence has carried over,' said Reeves. 'I'm just trying to carry some of that confidence over here.'
Bradley Hughes, Rocky Walcher, Scott Petersen, Kevin Johnson and Lee Porter are in the clubhouse at 6-under-par 66. Ryan Palmer is 6-under through 16 holes, as is Bryce Molder through 13 and James Driscoll after 12.
