Play Washed Out Saturday

SILVIS, Ill. -- The third round of the John Deere Classic never got started on Saturday and continuing rain ultimately suspended play for the day.
'The golf course has taken a lot of water,' said PGA Tour Tournament Director Dillard Pruitt. 'The decision is a very difficult decision to make but we have regulations that we have to go by.'
Players will return to the TPC at Deere Run Sunday morning at 8:00 AM ET to begin the third round with the final round scheduled to follow.
There was some golf played on Saturday despite the weather problems. A group of eight players was left on the course after play was suspended Friday due to darkness and they returned Saturday morning to complete the second round.
The 36-hole cut originally fell at 1-over-par 143, but in an attempt to get 36 holes in on Sunday, those players at plus-1 will not play the remainder of the weekend. They will, however, earn official money.
Among the group at 1 over par was last year's champion J.P. Hayes.
J.L. Lewis holds the 36-hole lead at 12-under-par 130 after back-to-back rounds of 65. Jonathan Byrd is two strokes back at 10-under-par 132.
Vijay Singh is alone in third place at 8-under-par 134 while Chris Riley and Paul Stankowski share fourth place at 7-under-par 135.
