'The golf course was already soaked, and the rain yesterday had no place to go, no place to drain,' said Nationwide Tour Tournament Director John Slater. 'Unfortunately we are at the mercy of Mother Nature. The course is just not playable and needs a full day to recover.'
The Richmond area has received a significant amount of rain over the month of May, leaving The Dominion Club saturated and unplayable.
'It's not our first choice, but we are limited in our options at this point,' Slater said of the decision to cut the tournament to 36 holes. 'We feel comfortable that we'll be able to get the course ready for play tomorrow.'
