Ryder Cuppers Return to Play New Event

European TourAfter all of the hoopla surrounding last weeks Ryder Cup Matches, the European Tour returns to normalcy with the first edition of The Heritage (TGC, beginning Thurs. at 10 a.m. ET).
Surprisingly, a stellar field is expected, as Ryder Cuppers Padraig Harrington, Colin Montgomerie, Ian Poulter and David Howell are playing along with world No. 5 Retief Goosen.
The Dukes Course at Woburn Golf and Country Club will host this inaugural event. Originally the Marquess Course at Woburn had been earmarked as the venue, however a disease to the grass, which is now under control, forced the movement of the event. Woburn has hosted the British Masters on 16 occasions, the Womens British Open, the Dunhill Ladies Classic for nine years and the 2005 Seniors Open Amateur Championship.
Past winners at this venue read like a whos who as, Greg Norman, Lee Trevino, Sandy Lyle, Nick Faldo, Seve Ballesteros, Ian Woosnam, Justin Rose, Helen Alfredsson, Patty Sheehan, Liselotte Neumann, Catrin Nilsmark, Laura Davies and Karrie Webb are some of the past victors.
The European Tour moves to Ireland next week for the WGC-American Express Championship, as Tiger Woods defends his title.
