Semple Thompson, a two-time winner of this championship, shot a 7-over 79 on Sunday, but is still on top at 7-over-par 151.
Diane Lang is alone in second place as she posted a 2-over 74 and is through 36 holes at plus-8. Therese Quinn is 5-over par and is 8 over through 15 holes.
Darkness forced the suspension of play on Sunday. There were several hours worth of delays on Saturday that forced the first round of stroke play to be completed Sunday morning.
The players that need to finish stroke play will return to the Apawamis Club at 7:45 a.m. (ET) Monday. After all play is completed, the field will be cut to 64 and the match-play portion will begin.
Semple Thompson mixed five bogeys and one double bogey, but it was enough to get her where she wants to be.
'What's important to me is to make it into the match-play round,' said Semple Thompson. 'I've achieved that objective.'
Ginny Burkey shot a 79 and is alone in fourth at plus-9.
Toni Wiesner (78), Patty Moore (78), Taffy Brower (79) and Martha Lang (76) are knotted in fifth place at 10-over-par 154. Robin Donnelley is at 10-over par through 15 holes.
