Singh Withdraws from Match Play Championship


Carlsbad, Calif. -- Vijay Singh is suffering from an aggravated pectoral muscle and withdrew from this week's World Golf Championships- Accenture Match Play Championship at La Costa Resort & Spa.
Singh, who is the No.4-ranked player in the world, also missed the Buick Invitational and the Nissan Open with the injury.
The World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship features the top 64 available players from the Official World Golf Ranking for five rounds of match play with a $1 million prize going to the winner of the 36-hole championship finale.
Retief Goosen will take over the No. 4 seed for the tournament, while Sweden's Carl Pettersson, who was the first alternate, will take over the No. 64 seed.
