Sorenstam Strengthens No 1 Spot in World Rankings

Annika Sorenstam rolled to a six-shot victory at the inaugural Dubai Ladies Masters over the weekend, strengthening her hold on the No. 1 spot in the Rolex World Rankings.
Sorenstam, who will be back playing the LPGA Tour this weekend, increased her lead over No. 2 Lorena Ochoa from 5.57 average points last week to 5.81 points this week.
Elsewhere, Jin Joo Hong won the Kolon-Hana Bank Championship in her first-ever start on the LPGA Tour. The Korean LPGA member got a bump of 72 places to 76th in the latest rankings.
As the season continues to wind down, little changed in the women's top 20.
Sorenstam was again followed by Lorena Ochoa, Karrie Webb, Cristie Kerr, Juli Inkster and Ai Miyazato to make up the top six places. Webb finished third behind Sorenstam in Dubai.
Jeong Jang, the runner-up to Hong in Korea, bounced Paula Creamer from the seventh spot. Creamer tied for sixth place and slipped to No. 8.
Shiho Ohyama remained ninth, while Pat Hurst moved up one spot to 10th, knocking 16-year-old Michelle Wie to 11th.
Wei was followed by Yuri Fudoh, Se-Ri Pak, Hee-Won Han, Mi Hyun Kim, Seon-Hwa Lee, Natalie Gulbis, Akiko Fukushima, Jee Young Lee and Sophie Gustafson to round out the top 20.
Further down, Helen Alfredsson moved up 17 places to 60th after finishing runner-up to Sorenstam.
