2007 Dubai Desert ClassicDUBAI, United Arab Emirates -- The Dubai Desert Classic will have a strong field as always this week and it will be headlined by world No. 1 Tiger Woods.

Woods, the 2006 champion, shared third place at this tournament last year. This will mark the fifth time in the last eight years that he has competed in it.

In Woods' title defense last year, Henrik Stenson fired four rounds in the 60s, including a final-round 68, to hold off Ernie Els by a single stroke. Woods also carded four rounds in the 60s, but ended two back.

Els has a stellar record at the event, finishing in the top eight in all nine of his appearances. He is 157-under par in those nine starts.

In addition to Woods and Els, Adam Scott and Stenson will be on hand this week. That gives this field four of the top 13 players in the world as well as the winners from last week's European Tour event (Scott by three over Stenson at the Qatar Masters) and PGA TOUR event (Woods by eight at the Buick Invitational).

The GOLF CHANNEL will have four hours of coverage each day.

The European Tour shifts to India next week for the Indian Masters, which is a new event.
