Torrance Withdraws from Singapore Masters

European Ryder Cup captain Sam Torrance withdrew from the Singapore Masters next week because of recurring knee problems.
Torrance, who has won 21 times on the European Tour, had successful knee surgery two weeks ago after feeling twinges in his knee. He has not recovered sufficiently enough to compete on tour.
'His knee is not up to it and he can't even turn on his backswing without feeling it,' said Torrance's agent. 'Sam's return to tournament play now is likely to be at the Dubai Desert Classic early next month.'
The Singapore Masters is co-sanctioned by the European Tour and the Asian PGA Tour and is scheduled to tee off Feb. 21-24 at Laguna National Golf and Country Club.
