Victory Spikes Sindelar in World Rankings


World RankingsJoey Sindelar won for the first time in 14 years Sunday at the Wachovia Championship to vault to No. 74 in this week's Official World Golf Rankings.
Sindelar, who improved 148 spots in this week's rankings, defeated Arron Oberholser in a playoff for his seventh career victory on the PGA Tour. Oberholser meanwhile jumped up to No. 80.
Tiger Woods finished one shot back in a tie for third at the Wachovia Championship. The 28-year-old maintains his No. 1 ranking for the 249th straight week followed by Vijay Singh, Ernie Els, Davis Love III, Phil Mickelson, Mike Weir, Jim Furyk and Padraig Harrington.
Kenny Perry moved to No. 9 while Stuart Appleby rounded out the top 10. Retief Goosen dropped two spots to No. 11.
Chad Campbell held onto the 12th spot followed by Adam Scott, Darren Clarke, David Toms, Scott Verplank, Jonathan Kaye, Nick Price, K.J. Choi and Jay Haas.
Barry Lane won the British Masters for his first European Tour title in over 10 years. The Englishman jumped up 76 positions to No. 133.
