Victory Vaults Calcavecchia in World Rankings


Mark Calcavecchia won the PODS Championship on Sunday and in the process moved up 68 places to No. 62 in this week's Official World Golf Rankings.
Calcavecchia missed a five-foot par putt on the 72nd hole and a playoff looked likely as Heath Slocum had three feet to force sudden death. Slocum missed his try and Calcavecchia got back into the top 65.
Slocum rose 22 places to No. 65.
Tiger Woods returns to action this week at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and stayed atop the rankings. Jim Furyk, who withdrew this week due to a wrist injury, Phil Mickelson, Adam Scott and Henrik Stenson rounded out the top five.
Ernie Els, Geoff Ogilvy, Retief Goosen, Vijay Singh held their spots from Nos. 6-9. Padraig Harrington switched places with Luke Donald this week with the Irishman taking 10th and Donald dropping to 11th.
Trevor Immelman remained in 12th, while Sergio Garcia climbed one to No. 13. Paul Casey dipped one to 14th, while Charles Howell III rounded out the top 15.
Nick O'Hern, Davis Love III, David Howell, David Toms and Colin Montgomerie stayed pat in spots 16-20.
